Simplified save system for 1.04b

Postby Lord-Anarki on Fri Jul 17, 2009 10:16 am

What you will need:
- This map
- GameCapture, by Darimus (available below, also see notes)
- A way of loading your scripts, I've included a little program I wrote below (it is pretty shit though, some of you might use other stuff like banlist apparently)

WARNING: GameCapture is technically a hack. However, there are three things you should keep in mind:
- It is unknown if GameCapture is detectable by WARDEN. It does not modify memory, only reads it. WARDEN is set up currently to detect for certain hacks that edit certain sections of memory. So in theory, it should be undetectable.
- When you use GameCapture, you will be in singleplayer, which means that WARDEN will not be monitoring WarCraft III. So it is safe.
- GameCapture is just as much a hack as Banlist, VCK, etc, so expect to get banned on Battle.net for it.

Alright, now, load up the map I showed you in singleplayer.
Image

In this map, you have only a few commands available:
- spawn
- color
- tint (this is strange, you'll see what I mean if you are a person who tries to tint above 100, but no real consequence)
- 'fa
- 'fs
- size
- remove tree
- remove
- save

This map will only save these things:
- Unit location, color, tint, angle, size, and type.
- Location of "remove tree" commands.
- Only units that are alive when the "save" command is called will be saved. (ie. if you remove a unit, it won't be saved)
Also, don't try and use unit abilities or other funny stuff in this map. Upgrading is okay, but don't try and summon Water Elementals or suicide units or something. Only use the remove command to get rid of units; trust me on this.

Okay, lets find a location to build something.

Hell yeah. Notice I've removed some trees, and I removed my builder. Now, I type "save".

Woah! That's a lot of text! How am I going to remember all of that? Fortunately, GameCapture will save you.

Now, for those who did not read ahead, don't panic. This is what you do.
1. Open WarCraft III (or if you already have it open, whatever)
2. Run GameCapture. It will now record any ingame "messages".
3. Type "save" (you can type it again if you need to).
4. Profit!

Now just copy all of that, make any edits (like cutting out SAVE STARTS HERE and stuff), and then save it to a .txt file of your choosing!

To load stuff, some of you already have ways of doing it (like Banlist). Those ways are probably better then my little loading script I wrote. If you want to use it, however:
1. Put your saved load in the same folder as the script program. ie. swastika_temple.txt should be in the same folder as ScriptLoader.exe.
2. Run ScriptLoader.exe.
3. Change C:/helloworld.txt to swastika_temple.txt (if you do not include C:/path/file.txt, it will simply look in the same folder as the .exe)
4. Press Load Script ONCE.
5. Press Build Script. You now have 10 seconds to alt-tab to WarCraft III. Make sure not to touch anything until it has finished building.

I cannot get gamecapture to work. What do I run it as? or does it not matter?

gamecapture has nothing written down after I typed save.

Also I don't seem to see a save option, so I suppose I could use copy/paste.

I get the idea of this method, and it's a really great idea.

I get the entire concept now, I did the moment i read about the save cmd which will write all the things that you actually did down into the message log. Then something in my head clicked, thinking "what if there was a program that could just take that and just spit it into the game, then i saw Narks' program and went, "that's fucking convenient :)"

Anyway the program he wrote himself works fine.

The Gamecapture doesn't work for me at all.

When I open it after opening wc3, I go to single player, play the map that lets u save, and then I make shit, then type save, then I minimize and game capture didn't write a thing down..

So curious to test the scriptloader, I made my own .txt for a simple Dome. And used it, and Narks' script loader works great. Thanks for that.

I'm not sure how to get Gamecapture to work, I've tried running it as an older version of windows and that didn't do anything.

Any ideas?

Several bugs, sometimes gamecapture does not capture the entire save/load code, sizing and tinting commands can sometimes hit the wrong building, etc.

It would be useful if all of the "auto" commands worked in the "saving" map, so that you could save a partially-complete thing, and be able to continue to work on it later.

Now for the bugs I found when trying to build something:
1. Sometimes the auto-settings were accidentally applied to the wrong object (probably it needs some delay when it is entered)
2. Some of my tints were changed from "tint 000000000050" to "tint 00050"
3. Either Gamecapture can only record 775 lines, or my save file was larger than the system clipboard... (The file had 15563 characters, if that information helps)

How did you get your gamecapture to work!

Mine doesnt write crap down.

Just stays blank.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it to work, sort of. I used it on my other comp that has Vista Ultimate, and it works completely fine. This computer has Windows 7 Ultimate, which is why it doesn't work..

Seriously? I'm running the Windows 7 RC (64-bit version) here, and it works fine...

Did you try "run as administrator" on both programs?
